The Anna Wilcox and Harold Warnes Memorial Nature Sanctuary is a privately owned nature sanctuary under the umbrella of the Michigan Nature Association.The 44-acre property features a one mile of trail takes visitors through a forest that supports an array of trees and wildflowers. Massive tulip trees and bottle gentian highlight the diversity of vegetative species present within the sanctuary. The clear stream that runs through the southern part of the forest is home to inhabitants of the sanctuary. The monkeyflower, which requires moist soil or even shallow water, also thrive in the marsh habitat. Many wild turkeys and the occasional great horned owl are seen throughout the sanctuary. Visitors with a keen eye may be able to spot warblers and finches. The abundance of large tulip trees highlights the incredible habitat and wildlife diversity of Wilcox Warnes.

Spend an afternoon around Heritage Lake with the ducks or stop and smell the flowers from the Shelby Gardeners Club in Heritage Garden and you will see why couples choose to hold wedding services in the garden and the lakeside is swarmed for photographs during high school homecoming and prom season.

The Mae Stecker Park Onyx Tree Trail is a joint effort between the Shelby Township Parks, Recreation and Maintenance Department and the Beautification Committee. Enjoy the beauty of nature through the trees found on this trail. The trail is located at Mae Stecker Park at 8600 24 Mile Road and is unpaved.

There is so much to see at River Bends Park. The trails go on for miles, and you can spend a whole day walking by the river.

Encompassing 49.5 acres, Whispering Woods Kiwanis Park has something for everyone. The park features nine soccer fields, an irrigated baseball diamond, a comfort station, sand volleyball courts, an 11-piece playground, the barrier-free Kiwanis playscape, two picnic shelters, picnic tables, 1.21 miles of paved nature trails and basketball courts.
