Home School Classes: Great Lakes Fur Trade

Homeschool Classes

Our homeschool curriculum is designed to immerse students in nature while teaching various topics in ecology and history. This 90 minute program is offered to children ages 4-12 years of age. Upon arrival, students will be split into age-appropriate groups so that program content is effective and engaging. An adult is required to attend and supervise their child(ren). A large portion of every class will be conducted outdoors, so please dress accordingly. $4 per resident child / $6 per non-resident child.

Students will go back in time and step into the life of a French voyageur living in Michigan during the fur trade. Through an interactive role-playing game, students will have to earn “beaver pelts” to trade at the local trading post for items that will help them survive the winter.
Finally, after all their hard work, they will relax with authentic voyageur games and food cooked over a campfire.
