    The Shelby Township Parks, Recreation and Maintenance Department staff provides progressive leisure, organized sports, and cultural and educational programs to the township. It protects our natural resources and offers outdoor recreational opportunities to members of the community in a safe, healthy and enjoyable environment. The staff provides innovative and quality services to residents, businesses and service organizations in Shelby Township.

    Because they are so popular, some of the recreation offerings at the Shelby Township Activities Center have capacity limits.     This movie tells the uplifting true story of the bicycling team at Rite of Passage’s RidgeView Academy, a medium-security correctional school in Colorado. Coach Greg Townsend rounds up an unlikely crew of incarcerated students for a seemingly impossible bike ride from Denver to the Grand Canyon. As the beginner bicyclists battle heatstroke, speed wobbles, and the greatest enemy of all cyclists -- a chafed crotch -- they must learn to stop fighting and ride together as a peloton.
