The Shelby Township Parks, Recreation and Maintenance Department staff provides progressive leisure, organized sports, and cultural and educational programs to the township. It protects our natural resources and offers outdoor recreational opportunities to members of the community in a safe, healthy and enjoyable environment. The staff provides innovative and quality services to residents, businesses and service organizations in Shelby Township.

Because they are so popular, some of the recreation offerings at the Shelby Township Activities Center have capacity limits. To ensure access to the activities and programs you want, we ask you to book your time via the link(s) below. Investigating Owls

Investigating Owls is for curious beginner birders with a focus on Michigan’s native owls. Led by instructor Baylee Ruddell, we discuss adaptations and behaviors that make owls unique birds of prey. Learn more about their senses, behaviors and their diet as we dissect a real owl pellet. This program is for grades kindergarten-5. Registration is required, and there is a maximum of 20 attendees per session. Attendance allowances may change because of COVID-19 restrictions. Residents pay a $9 fee and nonresidents pay $16.
