SUMMARY:2021 Christmas Aglow
DESCRIPTION:Shelby Township's biggest Christmas event and tradition, the annual Christmas Aglow and tree lighting, occurs at 7 p.m. Dec. 2 on the township municipal campus at 52700 Van Dyke Ave. Before the official lighting of the township Christmas tree, there will be carols before the township's North Pole Ambassadors present Santa with the key to the township and light the tree. Photos with Santa Claus will then be available in Hope Chapel until 8:30 p.m. To enter to become a North Pole Ambassador, township residents and Utica Community Schools students in grades kindergarten to second can complete a Shelby Township Christmas Coloring Contest sheet available at shelbytwp.org/contest and submit it to the Shelby Township Library by 5 p.m. Nov. 18. Judges will select ambassadors before they are sworn into "office" by Shelby Township Clerk Stan Grot on Nov. 23 at Shelby Township Hall. The Aglow features traditional favorites such as horse-drawn carriage rides, kids crafts at the Kris Kringle Castle, marshmallow roasting and the "Holiday Express" train display.
